NJ has some excellent public middle schools but even the best public middle schools may not be the right fit for some families. Homeschooling in NJ is an option, but the opportunity cost of homeschooling can be considerable. Many New Jersey private middle schools are highly rated, but often come with exorbitant tuitions and onerous admissions processes. American Boys Preparatory Academy is a micro-school that enables NJ parents to influence the education of their sons to a similar degree as homeschooling or a learning pod but at a much lower cost and with easier access as compared to other private middle schools. If your family has a boy of middle school age and is considering homeschooling or a learning pod but is open to other options, please contact American Boys Prep to see if we may be the safe, supportive, convenient, and affordable private education provider for you.
Teachers and administrators have enormous power and influence over vulnerable children, so they need to always be accountable to parents. At ABPA, parents are able to remotely view our classrooms.

We know American Boys Prep will provide an amazing educational experience for many, but will not be right for everyone. Most adolescent boys will thrive in an educational environment that affords them more autonomy, but if this does not turn out to be the case for your son then at least it will not have cost you any money to find out.
Matt Walsh addresses the question: Do children belong to their parents or to the state?
NONDISCRIMINATORY POLICY: The American Boys Preparatory Academy admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, athletic and other school-administered programs.
American Boys Preparatory Academy (ABPA) is an affordable, independent, nonsectarian, private all-boys micro-school for ages 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 (middle school) in Union County, NJ.
ABPA is an all-boys micro-school committed to an overall program of excellence that enables each boy to achieve his maximum potential. We provide a safe, supportive environment that affords each student a high degree of autonomy within a structure that requires daily accountability. Special features that distinguish ABPA from other middle schools include: self-paced, supported learning for core subjects (math, science, language arts, social studies); Harkness method for group learning; no school-assigned homework, home projects, tests, or exams; extended school day and school calendar with flexible daily start and stop times; up to 90 minutes per day of physical activities; honor code; maximum school size of 20 students.
We are family-centric and advocate for a family-first approach to learning, meaning that your family is free to choose which subjects and what subject matter your son should study and to what degree. We do not subscribe to government oversight of education and recoil at the thought of government-sponsored indoctrination. This makes American boys Preparatory Academy a wonderful alternative to homeschooling or learning pods in NJ.
